Veterinarian
Dr. Lara Garman grew up in Elkhart, Texas. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Texas A&M University – Kingsville in 2002 and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2006. Dr. Garman served in the U.S Army Veterinary Corps as a veterinarian from 2006 – 2013. While on active duty, she was in charge of a military veterinary clinic, responsible for the veterinary care of the military working dogs, deployed to the Middle East, performed food sanitary inspections on commercial food production facilities and provided veterinary care for the Navy Marine Mammal Program.
Dr. Garman worked for the National Marine Mammal Foundation providing veterinary care for the Navy’s dolphins and sea lions in San Diego from 2013 – 2017. In 2017, Dr. Garman decided to expand her small animal knowledge and completed a one-year rotating internship at VCA California Veterinary Specialists in Carlsbad. After working in Southern California at a small animal clinic for 3 ½ years, Dr. Garman and her husband moved back to the Palestine area with their dog, Zeus and cat, Clea. While not working, she enjoys working outdoors, fishing, reading, scuba diving and spending time with her family.
